The family reunion visa for Denmark is meant for those applicants who wish to join their closely related family which is living in Denmark. The applicant should have someone close to his/her family living in Denmark to apply for this visa on the grounds of family re-unification. The residence permit granted under this visa would be a temporary one. The temporary residence permit is then extended and after a period of time the applicant may apply for a permanent residence permit. However, to do so the applicant has to meet the conditions for original residence permit. This visa allows the applicant to work in Denmark without the requirements of any work permits. The family person who is staying in Denmark should be a permanent resident or a citizen of Denmark. The nature of the sponsor’s residency also influences the grant of a visa decision. Apart from that, there are many other rules and obligations to nominate an applicant from abroad for this visa.
Provided that certain conditions are met, family reunification can be granted to:
Spouses, registered partners and cohabiting partners
Children under the age of 15
