Tier 1 Visa – Business Investor Visa for UK

Business persons who wish to make a substantial investment in the UK could choose the Tier 1 of investor visa which is based on (PBS) Points Based System of UK Immigration. Although the same requirement for investment may be of the Entrepreneur visa, the two categories are differentiated by the amount of investment in both the categories as the investor visa for UK require heavy or large investment amount than the other business category classes. This is also unique than the Entrepreneur visa as the investor do not require to engage in any business activities. Since it is a PBS, one can easily assess his eligibility via the online assessment forms available on our site. This visa is quite unique than other available visas for the UK. It does not require the applying candidates to be awarded a sponsorship from any licensed sponsor. Tier 1 Investor visa holders may switch into another sub category if they satisfy the associated requirements. The one exception is that this type of visa holders cannot switch into the Post-Study Work category.

Requirements

An applicant does not need to be proficient in English for this visa category. Although fluency in English language is required for the general and entrepreneur visa categories and since in this category, an investor only invests and does not need to work and therefore, does not require the proficient working language of English. The maintenance test of supporting their family and themselves does not hold any relevance in this category. As with all categories of Tier 1, the Investor category requires candidates score a total or above 75 points and that could be achieved by meeting the following requirements:

Ø The candidate has a minimum of £1 million. The money must be their own and must be held in a regulated UK financial institution. The money must also be disposable in the United Kingdom.
Ø The candidate has personal assets to the value of more than £2 million taking into account any liabilities.
Ø The candidate has an amount of no less than £1 million, which is under their control and is held in a regulated UK financial institution. This may include money which has been loaned to them if the financial institution providing the loan is regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

  1. Seems that the UK investor visa has a good deal in common with the US version of the same, which is called the eb-5 visa program. I would like to see statistics on the yearly applications number and number accepted for the UK. I understand the US operates at only 10% capacity on this visa, what a shame!
